Navigation against the southern wall of the amazing
Perito Moreno Glacier, an enchanting walk through the
woods and walk on the glacier, guided by a group of
professionals specially trained for this. We begin the
tour at the port located in the Under the Shadows Bay,
sailing across Lake Rico, reaching the southwest coast
after about 20 minutes with a view of the icebergs and
the southern wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
After landing, we begin a walk along the lake shore, of
about 20 minutes to the glacier. Upon arriving at the
edge of the ice will be the placement of crampons to
participants, who will receive instructions on how to
move on the ice.
The trip on the glacier is approximately 2 hours and
during the course of the same will be able to see a
variety of ice formations such as cracks, seracs, sinks
small lakes, and so on. The ice surface on which you
walk is irregular, but firm and safe. You will receive
explanations about the flora, fauna and general
glaciology of the region as well as the particular
phenomenon that happens in the Perito Moreno Glacier
and eventually produces breakage. At the end of the
walk, return to the shelter through the lush forest
Magellan.The return to the Port is with a closer visit
to the Icebergs Canal and view of the walls of the
glacier. Finally we move the passengers to the Mirador
del Glaciar and walkways, in a view of approximately 60
minutes' duration. Return to El Calafate.
Difficulty: Medium. Recomendations:
a) Age / Physical State: This tour, due to the level of
effort and difficulty it presents, is not advisable for
people over 60 years, children under 10 years,
overweight people or some kind of physical disability,
pregnant women, people with problems cardiac, motor, or
other serious health problems.
b) Shoes: Any kind of sports shoes, eg. trekking boots,
slippers. Use thick socks, preferably wool or cotton.
Not allowed rubber boots, apres ski or heel high in
women. Only crampons are provided to tourists.
c) Clothing: Sports (long trousers for both sexes). It
is desirable to keep diving, shirt, sweater, pile, etc.
